Creating a team and moving between teams

Create a workspace, move between the ones you belong to, leave one, or close it for good.

A team is a workspace. Its conversations, contacts, boards, templates, roles and settings belong to it, and none of them are visible from another team. One person can belong to several and works inside one at a time.

Creating one

From the team switcher at the top of the menu you reach the list of your teams and the option to create another. A name is all it asks for.

Whoever creates the team is its owner: they can do everything in it, and the default roles are created inside it at the same time. There is nothing to switch on for WhatsApp, so the new team can connect its number straight away.

Moving between teams

The card at the top of the menu shows which team you are in. The arrows next to it take you to the list of the teams you belong to, and picking one switches everything at once: the menu, the conversations, the boards, the numbers on the dashboard.

There is nothing to save and nothing to lose by switching. Your place in the other team is exactly where you left it.

Leaving a team

Settings has Leave the team, open to every member except the owner. Press Leave, type the team's name in Team name and press Confirm, so it cannot happen by a stray click.

Leaving takes your access away immediately. It does not delete the conversations you handled. The contacts assigned to you are passed on, as when a member is removed: to the others responsible for them, or else to one of the team's default responsible users. See Set up your team.

Closing a team

The owner sees Delete team in the same place, and it asks for the team's name in the same way. This one is not a door you walk back through: it takes the whole workspace down for everybody in it.

Before closing a team, take out anything you want to keep. Export team packs the team's data and files into one file you can import into another team: see Move your team's data to another team. The lists also let you export what they hold: see Bring your contacts, and take them with you.
